Venessa Peterson, MSN, RN, CNE-A is a full-time Lecturer in the School of Nursing at Âé¶¹Ô´´. She teaches across the undergraduate curriculum, including health assessment, skills and simulation laboratory, fundamentals, obstetrical nursing, and community clinical experiences. Her teaching emphasizes student-centered learning, clinical reasoning, and the integration of evidence-based practice with compassionate, person-centered care.
Venessa brings over a decade of clinical experience in obstetrics, including labor and delivery, postpartum care, newborn nursery, and infertility services. She previously served as an IVF Department Supervisor, providing both clinical care and leadership within a high-acuity reproductive health setting. After stepping away from bedside nursing due to burnout, she pursued advanced education in nursing education, later returning to labor and delivery practice to remain clinically current while teaching.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Âé¶¹Ô´´, Las Vegas and her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Arizona State University, graduating with distinction. Venessa is a Certified Academic Novice Nurse Educator (CNE-A) and maintains active membership in professional organizations including AWHONN, NLN, and ANA. Her professional interests include simulation-based learning, Caring Science and Caritas Coaching, student well-being, and the development of supportive, inclusive learning environments for nursing students.
Provided operational and clinical oversight for case managers and patient care coordinators, including staff scheduling, coverage coordination, and management of time-off requests to support efficient clinic operations and continuity of patient care. Supervised departmental workflows, facilitated team communication, and supported adherence to organizational policies and professional standards.
Maintained clinical responsibilities within the assisted reproductive technology setting, including post–oocyte retrieval recovery care. Conducted comprehensive medical record reviews for gestational carriers and oocyte donors, and performed screening and evaluation of potential surrogates and donors. Ensured compliance with clinical protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements related to reproductive and infertility care.
