Dr. Sungju Moon works in applications of dynamical systems, including questions motivated by atmospheric predictability and modeling of infectious disease dynamics, with the common thread being chaos theory. Dr. Moon has mentored many math and math-adjacent students on undergraduate research projects through programs such as INBRE, TRIO-McNair, and CURM. Dr. Moon is an active member of the Math and Data Science Club and organizes the Math Colloquium series with invited speakers from around the world. His mainstay courses include MATH 181 Calculus I, MATH 330 Linear Algebra, MATH 389 Special Topics in Mathematics, and MATH 427 Differential Equations. Dr. Moon is also excited to teach MATH 314 History of Mathematics whenever he gets the chance! When not thinking about math, math history, weather, diseases, and chaos, Dr. Moon's passions include writing sheet music, reading ancient texts, developing his own secret language, and playing with his golden retriever puppy.
