Biography

Born in England, Dr. Taylor graduated from Nursing school with an RN diploma in 1992. Dawn worked in cardiothoracic and ICU settings before moving to the USA in 1998. From 2000 to 2013, she worked in Nephrology and was certified as a CNN. She earned her RN-BSN in 2008 and her MSN with a minor in Healthcare Education in 2010. Her thesis focused on nursing education about home safety for dialysis patients and was disseminated at numerous conferences. Since 2014, she has worked in academia at Â鶹ԭ´´ with undergraduate nursing students, where she is currently an Assistant Professor and Certified Nurse Educator. In 2019, she published a paper using Caring Science as a framework for faculty advising with nursing students, to early recognize student struggles and provide compassionate interventions, helping them draw on intrinsic motivation to overcome academic and personal challenges and achieve academic success.  Dr. Taylor received her Ph.D. in Nursing, with an emphasis in Caring Science Theory, from the University of Colorado in 2022. Her dissertation focused on exploring healing after intimate partner violence for sex-gender diverse females. It employed multiple data-collection methods to co-create poetry and storyboards as part of the narrative. A manuscript is currently being reviewed for publication by the Academy of Forensic Nursing.
