As stated in the 麻豆原创 System of Higher Education鈥檚 (NSHE) , 鈥淚ndividual NSHE institutions do not currently retain the authority to unilaterally impose more stringent face covering requirements beyond 麻豆原创 law. Stricter face covering requirements involve systemwide policy decisions that falls outside of a President鈥檚 discretion.鈥澨� It鈥檚 important to note that our on-campus student vaccination rate is 89%. This figure excludes students enrolled 100% online and high school students earning college credits (dual-credit students) as both groups attend 麻豆原创 State remotely. Our employee vaccination rate is over 95%.

Student Vaccination 听
On December 21, the Interim Legislative Commission met and did not give final approval to extend the regulation requiring student COVID vaccines to register for classes at institutions within NSHE. Following direction from Chancellor Rose, all student registration holds for the spring semester based on not having a COVID-19 vaccine have been lifted.听

听

On December 30, the NSHE Board of Regents voted to direct Chancellor Rose to draft a letter in support of a student vaccine requirement to be sent to Governor Steve Sisolak, the State Board of Health, and the 麻豆原创 State Legislature. The Governor鈥檚 Office has indicated it will pursue a student mandate through separate regulatory action. 麻豆原创 State will closely monitor this process.听

Employee Vaccination听 听
On December 30, the NSHE Board of Regents retained the existing employee COVID-19 vaccine mandate. All NSHE employees who were not vaccinated or did not have an approved exemption were terminated on December 31, 2021. A 30-day grace period is in place until January 31, 2022, to allow NSHE employees to request reinstatement upon completion of COVID-19 vaccination. Please read this for more details. Based on the current vaccination mandate that is in place for employees, mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing will be required for unvaccinated employees with exemptions beginning February 15th.听

As the Omicron variant continues to spread throughout the U.S., the CDC released new guidance to reflect the current science on when and for how long a person is maximally infectious. The CDC鈥檚 updated guidelines for determining quarantine and isolation requirements after being exposed to COVID can be found here: 听

Vaccination has proven to be the most effective tool in ensuring that severe illness and hospitalization are avoided. 麻豆原创 State will be hosting two vaccine clinics: January 20^th and February 17^th, 10 am-2 pm. • Yes. If you received your first COVID-19 vaccine in 麻豆原创, you can come in and get your second dose as long as your first Pfizer dose was received over 21 days ago or your first Moderna dose was received over 28 days ago.听 Please note that per CDC guidelines, 鈥淵ou should get your second shot as close to the recommended 3-week or 4-week interval as possible. However, your second shot may be given up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose, if necessary.鈥�

Will my privacy be protected?

• Yes. Everyone鈥檚 privacy is protected. Getting the vaccine will not affect immigrant status.

Can I bring my friends and family?

Within the past 24 hours, NS has been informed that a member of the campus community has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The individual was last on the NS campus on August 23, 2021 and was confirmed as positive for COVID-19 on August 24, 2021. The individual is recovering and is following protocols set by state health officials and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. When an individual is confirmed to have COVID-19, the t determines who they may have had close contact with and guidance is provided directly to those individuals.

The Southern 麻豆原创 Health District emphasizes that those most at risk from COVID-19 include people who have had daily repeated and prolonged exposure. The college is sending this notification out of an abundance of caution because the individual visited a public space on campus on August 23, 2021.

COVID cases continue to increase in Clark County.听 Therefore, new face covering requirements for all 麻豆原创ns have been announced. Governor Steve Sisolak issued yesterday, which imposes new face covering requirements for all vaccinated and unvaccinated 麻豆原创ns based upon the also issued yesterday.听 that effective Friday, July 30, 2021, all unvaccinated and vaccinated NSHE students, employees, and members of the public will be required to wear a face covering while inside any building or structure on any NSHE campus or property.

麻豆原创 State College will implement the directive as follows:

• Face coverings are required for all students, employees, and members of the public, when indoors at a 麻豆原创 State College building.
• Face coverings are not required outside or when alone in your private office or your room in on-campus housing.
• Face coverings can be removed if two people are meeting in a private office, both have been vaccinated, and they social distance.
• All building signage will reflect the new directive.
• Social distancing in general is not required under the current mandate.

This new mandate may remain in effect until the vaccination rate increases and COVID-19 transmission levels decrease in Clark County and other 麻豆原创 high-risk counties.听 The COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to end the pandemic and protect yourself, your family and friends, and the greater community. It has been a monumental undertaking to maintain operations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.听 Much gratitude to those in frontline, operational and clinical roles who have been critical to keeping us all safe and helping protect our larger community. As well as our academic faculty who stepped up with little notice to move classes online, keep the quality of instruction high, and increase their advising and mentoring loads with students. Your sustained commitment to 麻豆原创 State over the last 17 months is to be commended.

With the in Southern 麻豆原创 we remind everyone getting vaccinated remains the best way to protect yourself and our campus community.听 We encourage all 麻豆原创ns over the age of 12 to get vaccinated. Additionally, the both unvaccinated and vaccinated people wear masks in crowded indoor public places where they may have contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.

Added Cleaning

July 1 marked the transition back to full in-person operations resulting in an increased presence on campus by employees and students alike. Facilities has discontinued the use of 鈥渄oor tabs鈥� that marked unopened rooms and has increased cleaning frequency and intensity on the most vulnerable spaces and surfaces, including restrooms, conference rooms, and public spaces.听Sanitization continues on regular touchpoints, such as on handrails, building entrances, and elevators. Hand sanitizing dispensers are located at the entrances of each building and in all highly populated areas. Building ventilation systems have been adjusted to maximize the amount of outside air and continuously 鈥渇lush鈥� the building鈥檚 air.听 Call Facilities at (702) 992-2200 with questions or submit requests to facilities@nsc.edu for any special cleaning needs.

Guidance for unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals exposed to COVID-19

Protocols remain in place for any suspected or confirmed cases received via the Self-Report Form at or accessed via the听.听 NS COVID case managers conduct contact tracing and provide individuals involved information and guidance from the CDC as to when to quarantine.

听

Guidance for unvaccinated individuals

The CDC continues to recommend a quarantine period of 14 days. However, the following options may be available to shorten the quarantine period:

• Quarantine may end after day 10 without testing so long as no symptoms have been exhibited through daily monitoring.
• Quarantine may end after day 7 if an FDA-approved COVID test, collected by a medical provider, tests negative and no symptoms have been exhibited through daily monitoring.

Regardless of the quarantine period, employees and students should conduct daily symptom monitoring for 14 days following the last exposure.听 If symptoms develop, individuals should remain off-campus, adhere to the above quarantine guidelines, and are encouraged to seek out a COVID test when possible.

Guidance for fully vaccinated individuals

Employees and students who have been fully vaccinated and subsequently exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine so long as they meet all of the following criteria:

• Are fully vaccinated (鈮� 2 weeks following receipt of two-dose vaccine, or 鈮� four weeks following receipt of a one-dose vaccine)
• Have not exhibited COVID-19 symptoms since the most recent COVID-19 exposure

Individuals who do not meet the above criteria should follow current quarantine guidance outlined above for unvaccinated individuals. Fully vaccinated individuals who do not need to quarantine should still conduct daily symptom monitoring for 14 days following the last exposure.听 If symptoms develop, they should remain off-campus, adhere to the above quarantine guidelines, and are encouraged to seek out a COVID test when possible.

Are vaccines required for employees or students to return to campus?

No, NS does not require employees nor students to be fully vaccinated in order to return to campus.听 However, vaccinations remain the best way to protect yourself and our campus community and we encourage all 麻豆原创ns over the age of 12 to get vaccinated.

Is paid Administrative Leave still available to employees for COVID-related situations?

With the expiration of Federal and State paid leave options, NS is no longer providing paid Administrative Leave for COVID-related circumstance.听 Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 and/or are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should follow the quarantine guidelines noted above.

Employees who are required to quarantine may elect to work remotely during the quarantine period so long as they receive the approval and authorization from their direct supervisor.听 Leave eligible employees (i.e. Academic Faculty, Administrative Faculty, Classified Staff) who are not able to work remotely may use their accrued annual, sick, or compensatory leave.

Are face coverings required while on campus?

For individuals who have not fully received a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a face covering remains mandatory under the law.听 Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are still required to wear facing coverings while inside NS buildings and classrooms, irrespective of whether other individuals are present.听 Face coverings are also required while outside on campus when in group settings or where social distancing cannot be maintained.

Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a face covering while inside buildings, inside classrooms, or outside on campus.听 Fully vaccinated, as defined by the CDC, means two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or four weeks after a one-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson Janssen).

Is COVID-19 Return to Campus training for employees still required?

No, the COVID-19 employee training that was previously required prior to returning to campus is no longer required.

This is an important announcement regarding significant changes in COVID-19 protocols on campus. First and foremost, thank you for following directives and staying safe. We have had very few reported COVID cases over the last six weeks. While restrictions are loosening, please vaccinate and continue to exercise caution and good judgement to limit the further spread of COVID-19.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued based upon the most recent health data and scientific research that as of May 16, face coverings would no longer be required indoors or outdoors for individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Following review by the State of 麻豆原创 and the 麻豆原创 System of Higher Education, new guidance has been issued regarding COVID-19 protocols.

Face Covering

Based on this guidance, effective immediately, Nevada State College individuals, including students, employees, and members of the public, who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, are no longer required to wear a face covering while inside buildings, inside classrooms, or outside on campus. Fully vaccinated, as defined by the CDC, means two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine is administered, i.e., Pfizer or Moderna, or two weeks after a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine is administered, i.e., Johnson & Johnson Janssen. Please note that individual programs, such as nursing and teaching, may have requirements related to clinical placements and practicums that may vary from this guidance. Also, as this change is occurring in the middle of the first summer session, please respect your instructors request that you continue to wear face coverings while in the classroom for the balance of the first summer session.

As to individuals, including students, employees, and members of the public, who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you are still required to wear face coverings while inside NSC buildings and classrooms, irrespective of whether other individuals are present. You are also required to wear face coverings while outside on campus in group settings or where social distancing cannot be maintained. For individuals who have not fully received a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a face covering remains mandatory under the law.

Students and employees are obligated to follow and workplace policies. We expect students and employees to voluntarily comply with the updated face coverings policy without any specific questioning of their vaccination status. It is part of our personal integrity and civic responsibility for each of us to comply.

Campus Spaces/Events/Commencement

Starting June 1, Clark County will lift restrictions involving capacity limits, large gatherings and social distancing. The guidance has been adopted by and the

• All campus spaces, including classrooms, may return to full capacity beginning June 1. No social distance is required. However, it will take some time for facility changes to be implemented. With respect to classrooms, the Information Technology Services and Facilities teams will reconfigure classrooms and labs over the summer to prepare for normal occupancy in the fall semester.
• In-person events and gatherings will only require the submission of the standard event request form after June 1. The event exception form is no longer needed. 听A minimum of four weeks’ notice on all event requests is still required. Your reservation is tentative until you receive a confirmation notice.
• The Orleans Arena will operate at full capacity as of June 1, which now allows 2021 Commencement to accommodate over 5,500+ guests. Tickets are no longer required, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional details on Graduation and COVID-19 protocols will be communicated by email later this afternoon.

Thank you for doing your part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. For two consecutive weeks, we have had no new reports of positive cases. We are grateful and acknowledge your commitment.听 Please continue to practice prevention protocols and encourage others to vaccinate.

Effective May 1, the has approved reducing social distance space to 3-feet and increasing room capacities to 80%. Note most classrooms and other spaces on campus hold fewer than 80% of their capacity when all individuals are spaced 3-feet apart. Our facilities and ITS teams have set all campus spaces so that social distance can be maintained.

The Office of the Provost continues to plan for appropriate in-person class sizes, taking into consideration how safety can be maintained in consideration of County mandates, campus spaces, and the needs of our faculty, staff and students. Our measurements indicate that we can safely put approximately 30 students in a typical classroom with a capacity of 40 students.

, issued May 3 modified the face covering mandate for individuals that are fully vaccinated.听 Given that at this time vaccinations are not mandatory, we will continue to require face coverings be worn indoors at all times.听 Individuals should not remove their face coverings to teach or present indoors.听 While indoors a face covering can be removed only if an individual is socially distanced while actively eating or drinking, or in a closed office alone.听 While outdoors face coverings may be removed, however there are exceptions. For example, if an outdoor event requires participants be in close proximity such as a concert, face coverings will be required.

In-person events and gatherings require the submission of . Requests for an exception must be submitted at least four weeks in advance for events limited to 麻豆原创 State students, faculty and/or staff and six weeks in advance for events attended by visitors or guests. This applies to any activity, occasion, reception, performance, special meal, conference, training, meeting, or any combination thereof that does not appear in a published class schedule. Appointments and classes are excluded.
