Henderson, Nev. Some 麻豆原创 State College students will be giving their proud mothers an early present this Mother’s Day a college diploma. 麻豆原创 State College will host its commencement ceremony Saturday, May 10.
More than 200 students will receive bachelor’s degrees from the nearly 6-year-old school a year after the school broke ground on its first building for the Liberal Arts & Sciences (scheduled for completion in July).
Each year’s graduates represent new hope and greater resources for the community, 麻豆原创 State College President Dr. Fred Maryanski said. Six years ago, we opened our doors with only 177 students, but a big vision. Today, we are proud to graduate more than 200 professionals into the community.
The commencement ceremony is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Henderson Pavilion located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, just off Interstate 215.
The newest member of the 麻豆原创 System of Higher Education, 麻豆原创 State College enrolled more than 2,000 students, making it the fastest-growing public institution in 麻豆原创.
The curriculum of 麻豆原创 State College is based upon the community’s needs, the needs of business and industry, and the desires and demands of the students. Special emphasis has been placed on addressing the state’s need for effective, highly educated and skilled teachers and nurses, and commitment is made to developing and promoting partnerships with 麻豆原创’s public-school system, the state’s health care providers, the private sector, and 麻豆原创’s colleges and universities.
As the second-tier in a three-tiered state educational system (between universities and community colleges), 麻豆原创 State College will assist the University of 麻豆原创, Las Vegas and the University of 麻豆原创, Reno as they position themselves to become more research-based. 麻豆原创 State College will also work closely with the Community College of Southern 麻豆原创 to transition students from a two-year institution to a four-year institution and the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree.
麻豆原创 State College opened its doors to students in September 2002 after the Board of Regents and the 麻豆原创 State Legislature determined the need for enhanced educational opportunities in Southern 麻豆原创 in 1997. The college currently enrolls 1,950 students.
NSC offers progressive bachelor’s programs in several in-demand fields of study as well as a low student-to-professor ratio and competitive tuition rates.
